Our partners

The Sustainable Gas Institute was founded in partnership with BG Group. In February 2016, BG Group became part of Royal Dutch Shell.




The Institute has also received funding from the Natural Environment Research Council, the UK’s leading public funder of environmental science and has received funding through the  São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).







We have also worked with a number of national and international organisations including Enagas and the World Bank.




Our Gas Innovations Fellowship Programme has been approved by the Brazilian Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis – “ANP”), and funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, CNPq.

We also work together with the IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme.




The individuals on our International Advisory Board Panel are based in a number of different international organisations including the UK Committee on Climate ChangeUniversity of New South WalesUK Energy Research Centre (UKERC)U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)Energy Research Office (Brazil)Tsinghua University, and the University of Texas at Austin.












The Institute is also working together with eight companies (Shell, BP, Eni, ExxonMobil, Repsol, Statoil, Total and Wintershall) as part of the Guiding Principles on Reducing Methane Emissions across the Natural Gas Value Chain. For more information, read our news item.
