Dr Ivan Garcia Kerdan

Research Fellow

In 2008 Ivan graduated from the Faculty of Engineering of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with a degree in Mechatronics. His main areas of interest were instrumentation, automation control, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and robotics.

Ivan finished an MSc in Energy and Engineering at the Institute of Engineering of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2011, focusing his research in data analysis of end-use energy indicators of the Mexican non-domestic sector.

After his MSc, Ivan spent 15 months working for Grupo Salinas, a company based in Mexico and Latin America, and was in charge of developing projects focused on corporate energy efficiency and renewable energy generation (solar, wind).

In 2016, Ivan gained a PhD in the Energy Institute at University College London, developing an exergoeconomic-based optimisation software for retrofit designs of building energy systems. His areas of interest are energy analysis, thermodynamics, low-carbon technologies, energy systems modelling and optimisation.
